Booking and payment

How do payments work?

You never pay TripKathmandu. You pay our trusted, government-licensed local partner directly. Some trips need a small deposit to reserve them, paid through our local partner's secure payment gateway after your trip is confirmed; a bank card fee of about 4% may apply and is always shown before you pay. The balance is paid to your partner in Kathmandu.

How soon will my trip be confirmed?

Our local partner confirms within 2 hours. If they can't take your dates, we pass your booking to another local partner.

Can I change my dates?

Yes. Message us or our local partner as early as possible and we'll help you move your trip.

Trips and safety

Who runs my trip?

A trusted, licensed local partner runs every trip on the ground. TripKathmandu plans and coordinates it and stays in touch with you throughout.

What if the weather delays my flight?

Mountain flights depend on the weather. Our local partner will move you to the next safe flying time, so keep a spare day in Kathmandu.

Do I need travel insurance?

For treks and helicopter flights, yes. Choose a policy that covers trekking at your trip's maximum altitude and helicopter evacuation.

About TripKathmandu

Is TripKathmandu a tour operator?

We plan and coordinate trips and connect you with trusted, licensed local partners, who run them on the ground.

How do you choose operators?

We work with registered Nepal companies holding tourism licences, and we ask every traveler for feedback after the trip.

Mountain Trips

How long is a mountain flight in Nepal?

About one hour in the air, plus hotel pickup and airport check-in. Most travelers are back at their hotel by mid-morning.

Will I see Mount Everest?

On a clear morning, yes: the flight is timed for the best visibility. Weather in the mountains can change, and if flights can't go ahead they're rescheduled.

Does everyone get a window seat?

Mountain flights are designed so everyone gets a view: the plane turns at the end so both sides see the mountains.

What happens if the flight is cancelled?

You can usually rebook for another morning or get a refund, as confirmed by our local partner. We recommend booking it early in your stay.
